What happens when artistic and statistical-scientific cultures of knowledge come together? In this interview, Julia Weber, a research assistant at ZHdK, describes how artistic research picks up where official data reaches its limits: in affective experiences, informal practices and marginalised perspectives. As part of the Public Data Lab, she explores how different forms of knowledge can interact productively.
"Artistic research generates transformative knowledge that not only reflects existing social conditions, but actively questions and changes them."
