On 16 September 2026, the Coordination Committee Education Program visited the PHZH. Project leads presented their initiatives and shared their experiences with representatives from the DIZH universities.
The PHZH’s education program addresses various thematic areas in bottom-up groups, in coordination with the university’s strategic planning. This gives rise to implementation projects, which are evaluated and shared. Current priorities are:
AI and Assessment
Developments in the field of AI pose particular challenges for teaching, as lecturers, students and participants in continuing professional development are all equally affected. The program area is exploring how a sustainable culture of learning and assessment can be established under these conditions. The “FALKE-AI” project investigates how formative, AI-based assessment in teacher training can enhance the quality of teaching and support the acquisition of competences. The project “Evaluating Lesson Planning – AI-supported and AI-critical” develops approaches to enable trainee teachers to use AI in a reflective, efficient and responsible manner for lesson planning.
Open Educational Resources (OER)
OER@PHZH builds on a bottom-up initiative that has been in place since 2022 and is developing a university-wide OER process based on the principle of bottom-up meets strategy. Six sub-projects, to be implemented in 2026, cover a broad spectrum, ranging from subject-specific didactics and sustainability to AI in education. Their findings will feed into an OER strategy designed to establish openness, quality and sustainability as guiding principles for future OER practice at the PHZH.
Program Development Lab
A university-wide experimental space in which innovative approaches to teaching programs are jointly developed, tested and reflected upon with a program-wide perspective. As a community of practice, the lab brings together stakeholders from initial and continuing education and research who are engaged with digitalisation at the level of study programs.
The project roundtables provided an opportunity for direct exchange. Representatives from UZH, ZHAW and ZHdK also reported on their education programs. The subsequent discussion focused on the effectiveness, dissemination strategies, experiences and future plans of the education program at the DIZH universities.
Coordination Committee Education Program
The committee supports Zurich’s universities in networking and raises the profile of their projects. It is made up of representatives from the DIZH universities and meets regularly to foster synergies and exchange ideas. More information
