How do student teachers prepare for challenging parent-teacher conversations? The SRF program “10 vor 10” visited IMMERSE at PHZH and presented an innovative approach.
Parent-teacher conversations are among the most demanding situations in school life – and have so far been difficult to practise in a realistic setting. As part of IMMERSE, student teachers at PHZH are exploring a new approach: they train for these conversations using AI avatars, work through a variety of scenarios, and reflect on their communication behaviour in a targeted way.
The project demonstrates how AI-based simulations can be used in teacher education. Initial results are promising.
IMMERSE is funded in the 2. Structure Call.
