SHAPE: Research on organization and change under existential threats

Nearly four years ago, on February 24, 2022, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began. The war has shown: shelters no longer serve solely for protection – they are becoming spaces for work, learning, and organizational life.

At the ZHAW Center for Cross-Cultural Management, SHAPE (Shelter-based Hubs for Adaptive Partnerships and Engagement) examines how people and organizations operate under existential threats. Led by Anna Lupina-Wegener and Magdalena Zabicka-Wlodarczyk, in collaboration with Kyiv School of Economics, SHAPE focuses on:

  • Working and learning in shelter environments
  • Digital solutions under extreme conditions
  • Organizational adaptation during prolonged crises

SHAPE connects personal experiences with research on organizational behavior and resilience.

The project is funded in the 4. Rapid Action Call.
