With the “Re-Experiencing History” platform, researchers at the University of Zurich are developing an innovative way to realistically visualize ancient scenes using artificial intelligence. The project combines ancient history and computational linguistics and creates images based on research literature and ancient sources – as a supplement to research, teaching and museum work.
The application encourages new ways of asking historical questions and promotes a critical awareness of historical images. It is accessible to members of the UZH and is part of a larger digital research program in the Ancient Studies Lab.
The project is being funded as part of the 1st Founder Call.
