Project closure: DIZH Swiss Smart City Outreach

Whilst large cities such as Zurich and Winterthur have been implementing smart city initiatives for some time, many small and medium-sized municipalities are still in the early stages. The Swiss Smart City Survey (SSCS) provides guidance: it is a regular survey that tracks the development of smart city activities in Switzerland, with the results made publicly available via an interactive online dashboard.

The Swiss Smart City Outreach project aimed to increase the visibility and use of this information. To this end, the survey process was optimised and the website and dashboard were further developed. In parallel, nine events and exchange sessions took place, at which cities, municipalities, businesses, researchers and citizens were informed and brought together to discuss the topic. Specific innovations from ongoing DIZH projects were also presented, including a VR application for sustainable urban planning.

The dashboard remains publicly available and offers a concrete point of contact for local authorities seeking guidance on smart city initiatives.

The project was funded in the 1st Outreach Call.
