In a recent article in UZH News, researchers from the UZH Healthy Longevity Centre present new approaches to improving mobility and quality of life in old age. One focus is the interdisciplinary ZuReach project, which is being funded in the third Project Call.
ZuReach is developing a digital tool that visualises barrier-free routes through the city. It is based on real data on mobility barriers in Zurich, such as kerbs, stairs and long pedestrian crossings. A key element of the project is the active involvement of those affected in the data collection process. This creates a solid foundation for digital applications designed to make everyday life easier for older people and others with limited mobility.
