Together with another innovative project for the further training of vocational trainers, the project ‘Virtual Reality as a learning venue for basic vocational training’ was awarded the 2025 Vocational Training Prize by the Swiss Society for Vocational Research and Practice (SGAB).
The interdisciplinary team led by Thomas Keller and Elke Brucker-Kley (ZHAW), Reto Knaack (ZHAW) and Martin Berger (PHZH) has developed ‘VOLT VR’, an immersive learning environment in which prospective electricians can practise complex tasks such as the initial inspection of electrical systems in a risk-free and practical manner. The effectiveness has been scientifically proven: VR-trained learners significantly improved their exam performance.
We warmly congratulate the project team on this recognition.
