DESCRIPTION:Digitale Lernumgebungen werden oft mit dem Versprechen eingeführt\, Unterricht stärker an den Bedürfnissen der Schülerinnen und Schüler auszurichten. Adaptivität\, Individualisierung\, Heterogenität und Personalisierung sind nur einige Schlagwörter in diesem Kontext. Doch machen digitale Tools die Volksschule wirklich gerechter? Oder sind nicht eher neue Formen der Benachteiligung und Ausgrenzung zu erwarten? \nDie nächste Veranstaltung von «Forschung im Dialog» greift diese Problematik auf\, indem sie Perspektiven aus der Bildungspraxis sowie der Toolentwicklung mit Erkenntnissen der Forschung zusammenführt. Auf ein Impulsreferat aus der Forschung folgt eine Podiumsdiskussion mit Gästen zur Frage\, wie Bildungsgerechtigkeit auch in einem zunehmend digitalen Bildungssystem gewährleistet respektive erst hergestellt werden kann. SUMMARY:EdTech Hackathon: Focusing on Adaptive Self-Regulated Learning
DESCRIPTION:EdTech Hackathon: Focusing on Adaptive Self-Regulated Learning brings together researchers\, lecturers\, students\, and EdTech professionals to collaboratively explore how educational technologies can support adaptive and self-regulated learning. With a strong focus on real-world challenges posed by Swiss EdTech companies\, this interdisciplinary event invites participants—especially those with backgrounds in education\, psychology\, learning sciences\, and engineering—to co-design research-based solutions. \nTeams will tackle concrete problems presented by two EdTech companies Evulpo and Stealth Startup\, including: \n\nDeveloping adaptive learning paths and evaluating their effectiveness\nImproving teacher-facing UX with data-driven insights\nDesigning AI-driven interactivity that fosters cognitive engagement and social learning\nEnhancing learner motivation through gamification and feedback mechanisms\n\nThroughout the hackathon\, participants will receive guidance from expert mentors\, attend keynotes from prominent professors\, and collaborate in shaping research prototypes and project concepts. \nThe event will culminate in a pitch session evaluated by a jury of academic and industry experts. Selected teams and/or individuals may be offered internship opportunities with participating EdTech companies\, continued faculty mentorship\, and support in pursuing research funding. All participants will be awarded certificates in recognition of their contribution. \nThe goal ist to initiate interdisciplinary\, research-informed projects that investigate how educational technologies can meaningfully support adaptive and self-regulated learning\, while addressing practical challenges faced by EdTech companies. \nParticipation requirements include: \n\ninterest (preferably background) in educational technologies and research\naffiliation with a Swiss university\nmembership in the DSI Community Education (to apply\, contact Diana Pak)\nprofessional working proficiency in English (C1)\nfull onsite attendance on both days of the event\n\nRegistration \n\nYou can register/apply individually or as a team (2-3 people).\nAs the event room has a limited capacity for participants\, the organizing team will select the participants based on submitted applications. DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the Lecture Series – Leadership in the Future of Work\, organized in collaboration with the University of Zurich Europa Institute\, is to inspire current and future leaders to push forward people innovation by applying novel insights to identify\, test\, and scale up solutions to ensure that people remain at the heart of the future of work. We thus invite leaders from across the world to take the stage and share their understanding of leadership in the future of work. \nThe lecture takes place bi-annually\, in the Spring and in the Fall. The audience is composed of current and future leaders\, taking part via video streaming and in person in Zurich. The lecture is delivered in the University’s prestigious Aula\, in which Winston Churchill held his landmark speech on Europe in 1946. DESCRIPTION:Contemporary networked image cultures cannot be understood outside of platform capitalism. Today\, the production\, distribution and reception of visual media is largely managed and controlled by the algorithmic infrastructures\, corporate policies and business models of digital platforms. At the heart of platform architectures is the quantification\, evaluation and monetization of reactions – whatever we encounter online is designed to trigger our reactions\, and our reaction patterns in turn drive the visual economies of platform capitalism. Its paradigm-shifting potential is evident in direct applications such as automating processes\, creating intelligent assistants\, optimizing processes\, and solving previously intractable tasks with the power of vast datasets and deeper networks. Was vermisst ihr in der Ausstellung oder was ist unverständlich? \nWährend des einstündigen Rundgangs durch die Ausstellung werdet ihr vom Team von Citizen Science Zürich begleitet. Mit einem Tablet ausgestattet\, könnt ihr mit Text- und Sprachnachrichten mitteilen\, was die Ausstellung bei euch auslöst. Welche Potenziale und Grenzen hat KI aus Sicht der Journalist:innen für die Branche? Und wie wirkt sich KI auf die Qualität des Schweizer Journalismus und die Beziehung mit dem Publikum aus? \nDie erste schweizweite Befragung von Medienschaffenden zum Thema KI liefert Antworten auf diese Fragen.
